So recently I accidentally went over my bosses head. I was putting together some financial data for my marketing boss and I was really excited about some of the implications and trends of what I found. My boss is out of town so without thinking I went to talk the CFO about it. I know this is a big "no-no", and I have had problems doing the same thing before in a different context. How should I handle this? Should I keep it quiet or should I inform my boss?

He needs to hear this from you, today, prefereably face to face but if not, a phonecall. This is not an email matter.
